Hidden Eyes

One of those songs that just come, and leave you to figure out what it means.
Fingers brush against the glass
Shadows move across the grass
A momentary chill will pass
Voices in the air still last
After lights are gone and you are sleeping

In offices computer screens
Keep track of what your movements mean
Forgotten men, unknown unseen
Take notes and watch through doors and screens
Their superiors need further information

So you are–what you do
And hidden eyes keep a watch on you
Opinions formed inside a glass
Can never have a hope to last tomorrow

What you think’s been thought before
A fresh new wind will blow no more
Put on a light and check the mail
Untouched nest egg holy grail
Men in meetings decide your fate tomorrow

Now children learn to memorize
While angry parents prosletyze
Respected figures protect their lies
Prisoners select new ties
To show their jailers gratitude for freedom

Tomorrow is born from what you say
Not every ghost can fade away
The sunset turns from red to gray
Stop begging everyone to stay
Look to today, it won’t be here tomorrow
